Disability Law Service (DLS) is calling on runners to make 2024 the year you take on the iconic London Marathon! We have up to 5 guaranteed spaces to allocate, and would also really appreciate support from runners who already have their own ballot space and would like to fundraise for us.
Each year in the UK, thousands of disabled people face discrimination and inequality. Many cannot afford legal advice or representation when faced with these injustices.
Take part for Disability Law Service this April, and you’ll be helping us to make a life-changing difference by providing free legal advice and representation for disabled people and their families. We have 8 solicitors, 3 trainee solicitors and 4 benefits advisers. A significant majority of our staff are disabled as well and we’ve trained many of our own solicitors.
Last year we were able to help over 4,000 people, many of whom are in distress as a result of discrimination or improper care. But we need help to do this.
If you commit to raise at least £2,000 for Disability Law Service we will be there for you every step of the way with personal 1-1 fundraising support and tips, access to a professional running coach and training plans, a technical running vest for the big day and all the information and help you need for an incredible experience.
You will have a personal contact who will be available to answer any questions you have and support you all the way through your marathon challenge.
Help us to continue providing critical support to disabled people and their families when it’s most needed.
You can download an application form below, and you will find more information about our organisation and the support we provide elsewhere on our website (sorry it’s a little bit clunky, we are about to upgrade it). Make sure you read the terms and conditions (at the end of the application form) which set out more information about the support we will give you and the commitment you are making.
You can also contact Fiona on marathon@dls.org.uk with any questions!
Because we are late allocating spaces this year we will allocate strong contenders as we receive forms so that applicants have their space confirmed and can start training and fundraising. In any event, we hope to have allocated all spaces by Monday 12 February. If all spaces are allocated we will update this news item.
