Position statement on the Coronavirus Act

The Coronavirus Act 2020 further curtails the rights of disabled people and carers to social care support. The Disability Law Service expresses its profound concern about the inevitable adverse effects that the Act will have on disabled people and carers.

Impact on social care for disabled people and their carers

We have produced a factsheet on how to deal with threatened cuts to care under the Coronavirus Act.

A more detailed factsheet for helpline workers at other organisations is also available.

Changes to welfare benefits

Due to the international outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK, emergency protective changes have been made by the UK government to the welfare benefits system.
