The Equality Act 2010: What Will It Change?

This course looks at changes made to existing law by the Equality Act 2010. The majority of the Act will come into effect in October 2010.

Who should attend? Anyone involved in advising, advocating on or researching equality issues.

Course Context

The course will look at the changes made to the law in relation to: 

  1. Age
  2. Disability
  3. Gender Reassignment
  4. Marriage and civil partnership
  5. Pregnancy and maternity
  6. Race
  7. Religion or belief
  8. Sex
  9. Sexual Orientation

in addition, the course considers changes made in relation to:

  1. Employment
  2. Goods and services
  3. Transport 
  4. Premises

Outcome for attendees

Delegates will gain an understanding of existing discrimination law in relation to employment, goods and services, transport and premises, and an in depth knowledge of changes made by the Equality Act 2010.

The principle outcome of the course will be the ability to advise on changes when they come into effect in October 2010 and
an understanding of the current advantages/ weaknesses of our equality legislation.

The cost will be £100 for voluntary organisations and £150 for statutory organisations and private businesses. A discount of 10% is provided if you book for 3 or more delegates.

Lunch will be between 1 and 2 and can be booked for a charge of £5 (optional), other refreshments  i.e. tea, coffee and biscuits included in price.
